This page explains how to book one of our Machu Picchu tours, how payment works and what happens if you change or cancel your trip.
How to book
- Send us your dates, group size and tour through the quote form.
- We reply with availability, a day-by-day plan and the total price.
- Pay a 50% deposit to confirm. We then book your tickets, permits and trains.
- Pay the remaining 50% before your tour starts, on the date in your booking confirmation.
Cancellation and refunds
| When you cancel | Refund of the amount paid |
|---|---|
| 30 days or more before the tour | Full refund |
| 15 to 29 days before the tour | 50% refund |
| Less than 15 days, or no-show | No refund |
In every case, the cost of Machu Picchu tickets, Inca Trail permits and train tickets already issued in your name is deducted. Refunds go back by the same method you paid with.
Tickets and permits
Machu Picchu entry tickets and Inca Trail permits are issued by Peru's authorities with your name and passport number. They are non-refundable and cannot be moved to another person. Inca Trail permit dates cannot be changed. Read more in our Inca Trail permits guide.
Date changes
Ask for a date change as early as possible. We move your tour when trains, tickets and permits are available for the new date. Any price difference for new tickets or trains is charged at cost.
If we have to change your trip
Weather, strikes, landslides or closures ordered by the authorities can change a route or close the Inca Trail. When that happens we offer another date or an alternative route. If we cancel a tour for reasons on our side, you get a full refund.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, medical care and high-altitude trekking, so you are protected if you must cancel late.
Questions about booking
How much do I pay to book a Machu Picchu tour?
A 50% deposit confirms your booking. The remaining 50% is due before your tour starts, on the date shown in your booking confirmation.
Can I get a refund if I cancel?
Yes, depending on how early you cancel: 30 days or more before the tour gets a full refund, 15 to 29 days gets 50%, and less than 15 days gets no refund. Tickets and permits already issued in your name are deducted.
Are Machu Picchu tickets and Inca Trail permits refundable?
No. Peru's authorities issue them in your name and do not refund or transfer them once purchased, so their cost cannot be returned.
Can I change my tour date?
Yes, ask us as early as possible. We move your tour if trains, tickets and permits are available for the new date. Inca Trail permit dates cannot be changed.
