Editorial Policy
Our travel guides exist to help you plan a Machu Picchu trip with correct, current facts. This page explains how we write them.
Sources we use
Rules, ticket prices, circuits, permit limits and opening times change. We check them against official sources first: Peru's Ministry of Culture, the official Machu Picchu ticket site, SERNANP, the train operators and UNESCO. Each guide lists the sources it was checked against at the end of the page.
Fact-checking
- Prices, rules and limits are taken from official sources, not from other blogs.
- Where a number changes often, we say so and point you to the official source.
- We do not invent facts, reviews, ratings or traveler quotes.
- Illustrative images are marked as illustrative in their caption.
Updates
Every guide shows the month it was last updated. We review guides when official rules or prices change and before each high season.
Guides and tours are separate
Guides give neutral planning information. Where a guide mentions one of our tours, it does so in a clearly marked section, and the facts in the guide do not depend on whether you book with us.
