A premium train turns the ride to Machu Picchu into part of the trip.

This luxury Machu Picchu itinerary keeps mornings unhurried and starts only when you are ready.

Day 1: Arrive in Cusco and private city tour

VIP airport pickup and check-in at your luxury Cusco hotel. In the afternoon your guide shows you [Qorikancha](/guides/qorikancha), the cathedral and [Sacsayhuaman](/guides/sacsayhuaman) at your own pace.

Day 2: Private Sacred Valley day

A private drive into the Sacred Valley with stops chosen with your guide, such as [Pisac](/guides/pisac-ruins), Moray or the Maras salt pans. Night at a luxury lodge in the valley, lower than Cusco.

Day 3: Luxury train and afternoon at Machu Picchu

Morning train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, lunch, then a private afternoon visit to Machu Picchu when crowds thin. Night in a luxury hotel near the site.

Day 4: Huayna Picchu and train back to Cusco

An early second entry with the climb up [Huayna Picchu](/guides/huayna-picchu) for the view over the citadel, then the train and a private transfer to Cusco.

Vistadome or Hiram Bingham: Which Luxury Train?

The Vistadome is included; the Hiram Bingham is an upgrade.

The Vistadome, included in this tour, has panoramic windows, a snack and good seats. The Belmond Hiram Bingham is a full luxury train with a bar car, observation deck, brunch on the way and dinner on the way back, and it costs far more per person.

Choose the Hiram Bingham for a special occasion; the Vistadome suits most travelers. See our Hiram Bingham train guide for schedules and what the fare covers.

Why a Private Luxury Tour Feels Different

A private luxury tour means no fixed group schedule. Your guide adjusts start times, adds or drops stops and keeps the pace right for you, which matters at altitude.

Sleeping in the Sacred Valley on night two and at the foot of Machu Picchu on night three also means two visits to the site with far less travel each day. Read our Cusco altitude guide for why sleeping lower helps.

Huayna Picchu on a Luxury Tour: Is It Right for You?

Huayna Picchu is a steep climb of about 1 to 2 hours return on narrow stone stairs, with drops on some sections. It is included because the view is a highlight, but it is optional.

If you prefer to skip it, your guide can swap it for a gentler circuit or a visit to the Inca Bridge. Tickets are limited each day, so we book them as soon as you confirm.

How to Book Your Luxury Machu Picchu Tour

Booking starts with a free quote. Send your dates, room type, train choice and any special occasion. We check hotel and Machu Picchu ticket availability and reply with a written quote naming the hotels.

A 50% deposit holds your place once you accept. Payment, change and cancellation terms are in our booking and cancellation policy. Use the form on this page, and see our Machu Picchu tickets guide for why booking early matters.

Is the Hiram Bingham train included?

The Hiram Bingham train is not included in the base price; the Vistadome is. We can upgrade one or both legs to the Belmond Hiram Bingham, which includes meals, drinks and an observation car. The upgrade is quoted with your date because fares change.

Which hotels do you use on the luxury tour?

We use luxury hotels in Cusco, a luxury lodge in the Sacred Valley and a luxury hotel in Aguas Calientes. The exact hotels depend on availability for your dates and are named in your written quote before you pay any deposit.

Is a luxury Machu Picchu tour private?

Yes, our luxury Machu Picchu tour is fully private. You have your own guide and driver every day, so start times, stops and pace follow your wishes. Only the train and the Machu Picchu bus are shared with other travelers.

Do I have to climb Huayna Picchu?

No, you do not have to climb Huayna Picchu. It is included because the view is special, but it is steep with narrow stairs. Your guide can replace it with an easier route or the Inca Bridge on day 4 if you prefer.

How many days do you need for a luxury Machu Picchu trip?

Four days is the minimum we suggest for a luxury Machu Picchu trip. It allows a Cusco day, a Sacred Valley night to ease the altitude and two visits to Machu Picchu. Longer trips can add more valley days, Lima or the Amazon.

Is the luxury tour good for honeymoons?

The luxury tour suits honeymoons well thanks to private service, luxury hotels and the option of the Hiram Bingham train. Tell us it is a honeymoon in your quote request so we can ask hotels about suitable rooms.
